Operation Warm "Coats for Kids" 2013
Posted On: Nov 27, 2013

On Tuesday November 26, 2013 the members of the Scranton Fire Department Local #60 visited John Adams Elementary School hand out new winter coats for Operation Warm.  Local #60 partnered with Coats for Kids and raised $5,500 dollars to provide coats to 174 children.  Union Secretary Chuck Bartlebaugh organized the effort through Local #60

The coats, manufactured especially by Operation Warm, have been ordered in just the right size and in a variety of colors.  A brand new coat brings far more than warmth to these children—it instills a sense of self-worth, keeps them healthy and enables them to attend school during the coldest times of year.  Through this unprecedented partnership, fire fighters are distributing coats made and sourced 100% in the USA.  As the first known coat production to be brought back to the USA, Firefighters Coats for Kids will provide 30,000 children with American-made winter coats, supporting over 200 jobs.
