Comments: My parents were both born and raised in Scranton, and many of my relatives still live there, so I am especially disturbed and down-hearted and what is happening in your city. Though I haven't lived in PA since childhood, the current situation there is very saddening to me. I write from Madison, WI, and as public school educational assistant and member of the public educator union here. You might not know of our struggles against the greed, selfishness, and corruption of our own government here in Wisconsin, but you should know that we feel your pain, and stand with you and the public employees of Scranton in your struggle against the forces which would break your contract and deprive you of the living wage to which you are legally entitled. Firefighters are held in high esteem here in Madison, and I am so grateful to all firefighters for what you do, for your courage and for the expertise you bring to a challenging job. Comments: I spent summers in Carbondale visiting my Grandparents and have always had great respect for the work fire fighters do. I just read about the politics in your city and wish you the best with this very tough situation. I hope the workers already laid off can find work at other fire departments in the area. How can you protect such a large city with so few fire fighters and fire trucks. Very scary. I also just read about the closing of the only hospital in Carbondale. What the heck is going on in NE PA. I wish you folks the best and stay as safe as you can on the job!

Comments: Growing up in Scranton many years ago I remember the "old days" when my Uncle Gaylord "Spike" Jones was a firefighter(1970'S). It was obvious he had a love for his work.I was so proud of him and looked up to him with great respect. He was my hero. I just happened to be thinking about him tonight and fell over your web site. It was nice to see. Reminded me of all the men and women out there serving their communities in a very selfless way. So, for whatever it is worth and in the memory of my Uncle Gaylord Jones, God Bless you all and keep you safe in your tours of duty.

Interesting story on the E7 1967 ALF without the "bubblegum" light: it was knocked off as the dealer rep backed the then-new rig into the old E7 barn on South Main Ave. The light wouldn't clear the door opening... and the rig therefore ran for the next 12 years without the rooftop rotator !!!
