A Pair of Twin Homes Burn in South Side 10/16/2015
Posted On: Oct 27, 2015

On October 16, 2015 at 2:45 am a fire was reported at 710 Crown Ave.  Engine Co. 2, Engine Co. 4, Rescue Co. 1, Truck Co. 2 and Car 21 were dispatched. Car 21 arrived on scene ad reported heavy fire showing from the rear of the building, he activated the SRN which added Engine Co. 10 and Engine Co. 7 to the scene.  The flames were so intense that they spread to the neighboring home before a line could be pulled form the engine.  C-shift crews deployed five 1 3/4" hand lines to combat the flames while crews from Rescue 1 and Truck 2 searched and ventilated the pair of homes, both of the buildings were identical which helped.  Car 21 requested a second alarm which added Engine Co. 8, Car 30, Car 26, Car 22, Car 5 and the Fire Inspectors to the scene.  Fire crews were able to prevent the fire from consuming the homes and kept the flames for the most part to the rear and attic of both buildings. All companies were back in service by 6:32 am.

One firefighter was injured suffering burns as a result of fighting this fire.

The Officer in Charge was Assistant Chief P. Laskowski
