Firefighter Philip Biehl 11/22/1913
Updated On: Apr 14, 2013

Firefighter Philip Biehl of Engine Co. 4 died on November 22, 1913.  On April 10, 1913 he responded to a false alarm at Harrison Ave. and Vine St. and was struck by the apparatus of Hose Co. 9.  Further research found that in a newspaper article it was reported that he was burned using chemicals to extinguish a fire on April 20, 1913, which would indicate he came back to work after the Hose Co.9 incident. His death announcement only mentioned the Hose Co. 9 incident as a cause of his death and did not mention the chemical incident.
