Captain F.E. Wilcox 1/2/1927

Captain Florence “Frank” Elwood “F.E.” Wilcox of Truck Co. 2 died on January 2, 1927. He had responded to a two alarm fire at Saint Lucie’s School 115 N. Chestnut Ave. on October 27, 1926. Captain Wilcox and another firefighter were operating on the roof carrying a hose line into place when they were injured after coming into contact with a jagged piece of tin. He was taken to the State Hospital were he recieved treatment and eventually returned to the scene. He would suffer complications from a disease related to his injury.
