Daily Status of the Fire Companies

The Scranton Fire Department is comprised of 135 firefighters divided among three shifts.  They staff five engine companies, two truck companies, a rescue company and an assistant chief vehicle to provide emergency protection for over 76,000 residents in the city's 26 square miles. 

The following is a list of the daily status of the companies and a description of the protection area.

C-Shift On-Duty

OPEN       Engine Co. 2 - Covering South Side, Minooka and East Mountain

OPEN       Engine Co. 4 - Covering Central City, Hill Section, Bunker Hill, parts of South Side, Green Ridge 

OPEN       Engine Co. 7 - Covering West Side, Keyser Valley, West Mountain, Tripp Park and Bellevue  

OPEN        Engine Co. 8 - Covering North Scranton, parts of Green Ridge, Tripp Park, West Side, Central City and Keyser Valley

CLOSED   Engine Co. 9 - Covering North Scranton, parts of Green Ridge, Tripp Park, Keyser Valley, Central City and West Side. 

Permanently Closed by the Doherty Administration

OPEN        Engine Co. 10 - Covering East Mountain and parts of South Side

CLOSED   Engine Co. 15 - Covering the Hill Section, Bunker Hill, and parts of the Downtown

Permanently Closed by the Doherty Administration and the building given to the police department

OPEN       Rescue Co. 1 - Responds to all alarms in the city as well as any specialized rescue calls

OPEN       Truck Co. 2 - Responds to all calls on the East Side of the Lackawanna River

OPEN        Truck Co. 4 - Responds to all calls on the West Side of the Lackawanna River
